D Link 2878 NBN EWAN Quick Setup Guide

This guide is written for NBN services with an NTD, such as Fibre to the Premises (FttP)/Curb (FttC), HFC and Wireless. For a Fibre to the Node (FttN) and Basement (FttB) connection guide click here.

To get the best performance from your EscapeNet internet service it's important your router or home gateway device is connected correctly.


Open A Web Browser

If this is your first time using the router, open your web browser and enter the IP address of the router (default: http://192.168.1.1). The default password is printed on a label on the back of your router.

Click Next to continue


Operation Mode

9970 Operation Mode

Select your WAN Access Type to Ethernet (0 VLAD ID); Country to Not Listed and ISP to Not Listed.


Choose the Connection Type

From the list, Select Dynamic IP Address


Confirm Dynamic IP Settings

Click Next to progress.

WiFi Settings

The default WiFi settings are displayed, you can leave them or change them as you wish.

The SSID is the name of your WiFi network and will show in the list of available connections on wireless devices. 2.4Ghz is the standard Wifi frequency and 5Ghz offers higher performance over shorter distances. When connecting devices, the 5Ghz network should be tried first.

Admin Password

This field allows you to change the routers default login password. To maintain security we recommend you update the Admin password to a strong password you will remember for future access.

Confirm Settings

This screen shows the summary details of your connection, please note your Wifi name and password. Press Finish to complete the setup.

Disable Virtual Circuit

In most cases you will be required to disable the Ethernet Virtual Ciruit feature manually. Browse to Settings -> Internet and Disable the Ethernet Virtual Circuit.

Your router is now correctly configured and you should have internet acess.
